Saying Yes to a New Adventure

As I mentioned in my previous blog, Embracing Chaos, the year 2025 comes with some big anniversaries and big changes to mark – pending celebrations and a pursuit for new opportunities – albeit approached with cautious hopefulness. Cautious, because of the disquiet we find ourselves in.

As a little family unit, we all feel frayed. It has been a busy time, somewhat tumultuous, and a little overwhelming. Our life, as we know it, has felt unsettled in this precarious world. It is no wonder we feel cautious, and both wary and weary. How does one cope when your world feels topsy-turvy? How does one embrace the beauty of a day?

By saying Yes to a new adventure.

Perhaps spending money on a new adventure is not fiscally responsible, considering the uncertainties we find ourselves in; however, it was absolutely necessary. This new adventure is our family’s way of reconnecting and decompressing, as well as celebrating our milestone moments. We have a lot to be grateful for. As excited as we all feel about this forthcoming adventure, we also feel a tiny bit wary. The daily news reports of the world today are both worrying and threatening. There is much unrest and angst rippling through our society. There is much uneasiness and shocking regression. The world feels unbalanced – unsafe.

But one cannot live in fear. That was the lesson I learned in the darkest moments of my cancer journey. It is okay to feel afraid; however, one must face the fear, feel it, and then move on from it. And so, with this in mind, I will leave my worries behind and give myself permission to take a vacation from it all. I will focus my attention and energy on all that can be experienced in a new country and new city. That’s right, we are travelling to a destination that neither myself, my husband, nor our child have ever been to before. We will discover, explore, and build new memories together. And so ….

Dublin, Ireland … Here we come!

To say that I am ecstatic is an understatement. The emerald island of Ireland has captivated my imagination over these many, many years. I have always wanted to journey there. I have always wanted to explore the valleys, mountains, and majestic cliffs. But alas, we have just four short days to spend on the emerald island, which does not allow for me to wander far. On the upside? We have four days to wander the beautiful city of Dublin, and immerse ourselves in Irish culture and mythology. I am grateful for that, and I know we will make the best of our moments together.

It is the memorable moments that you create whilst on a new adventure that open your mind to new possibilities and change your outlook on the world. It is the extraordinary moments that you share with your loved ones that enrich your life and bring you closer together as a family. It is for these reasons that we are saying Yes to a new adventure.
